A small upper landing at the door and a lower sitting square. Still a simple deck, just on a grade.

The backyard drops. Instead of a tall, awkward stair, we split the deck: a landing you step onto from the kitchen, then four treads down to a lower square for a table. Same cedar, same rail. The old structure was a single tired platform with a steep run of stairs. This one follows the ground.
